Microsoft's Edge Browser Now Features Free Bing AI Image Creator for Easy Image Generation

Microsoft has added the Bing AI image generator to its Edge browser, allowing users to create AI-generated images for free using the DALL-E powered Image Creator tool. This feature is available on the web, Android devices, and iPhones. On April 7th, Microsoft simplified the process of creating AI-generated images by rolling out Edge's AI image generator to all users.

The Bing Image Creator is powered by an advanced version of OpenAI's DALL-E model, which enables users to create images by simply describing what they want to generate using words. Last month, Microsoft's head of consumer marketing, Yusuf Mehdi, announced that Bing Preview users could access the Bing Image Creator in the Bing chat.

It's worth noting that the Bing chatbot is an OpenAI product powered by ChatGPT. Microsoft has now made the Image Creator available to a wider audience with its latest move. According to a blog post by Microsoft's Roger Capriotti, the new feature will enhance users' productivity and help them stay organized by allowing them to generate images that don't yet exist. The feature is powered by OpenAI's latest DALL-E models and will be available on the Microsoft Edge sidebar.

Moreover, Creator will come in handy for generating specific visuals for a PowerPoint or a social media post. You need a Microsoft account to access the Image Creator tool in the Edge browser. After creating your Microsoft account, you can enable the Image Creator feature in the Edge sidebar by clicking the plus (+) icon and toggling the Image Creator option. Once enabled, the Image Creator will appear on the Edge sidebar's top right corner.

To create an image, all you need to do is describe what you want to create in words, and the DALL-E deep learning model will deliver up to four images that match your description. However, the time it takes to create an image can vary from a few seconds to a few minutes. You can expedite the process by redeeming Microsoft Rewards, which are digital currency that users can earn by doing things in Microsoft Edge to get "boosts." These boosts come in handy for bringing the time down to a few seconds.

Once the AI finishes generating the image, you can add it to your Microsoft account's Saved Images folder by hitting the "Save" option or download it to your device. You can even edit, add, or remove details if you aren't happy with the images or if the AI didn't create the exact image you had in mind.

Android and iPhone users can also use Bing AI Image Creator to generate images by installing the Bing – Your AI Copilot app, available for free in the Play Store for Android phone users and the App Store for iOS users. After signing in with your Microsoft account, tap on the Bing icon to open the AI Chat and switch to the "Creative" mode. You can then type or speak your prompt, and the AI-generated images will appear on your Android and iOS devices within a minute or two.

It's unclear whether this latest feature will enable Microsoft to improve the reputation of the Bing chatbot, which has been accused of being defensive and testy. Meanwhile, Google is planning to bring its Bard AI chatbot to its search engine, which has a larger market share compared to Bing. Microsoft is trying to get ahead of Google by making it easier for people to access this technology.

In contrast, Microsoft is striving to stay ahead of Google by providing easier access to this technology for users.
